Negotiated Brief

This module instantly had me excited. We were able to pick our own brief from a selection of competition briefs and we were also given our own individual clients to work with and present too. Upon the first look of the briefs I didn’t really find anything that jumped out to me, but then I found the Ted Baker brief. Basically the brief asked for an integrated campaign for one of the four Ted Baker accessories. Being a bit ambitious I decided to pick three of them, I should have known this would later be a mistake!

So the first part of the module asked us to write a proposal of our first ideas and present this to the clients. As I had never seen a proposal I was a bit terrified when it came to writing it, but I think my finished product was professionally presented and included all the information needed. Once I had presented

Once I had presented to my clients at El Roboto, I was left with two ideas and a lot of feedback to work on! With this in mind I headed home for Christmas with a lot of work to do…

The Officers Club

For the next brief we were given The Officers Club, a men’s clothing brand which wants to create a new image for itself. Our brief was to basically show that The Officers Club had changed through a 30second TV advert and 2 idents.

At first i had no ideas at all, my mind was blank! But I then started looking at different art styles and thought of using nature as a main theme. With this in mind I begin looking for quotes on the internet that would match up to the theme I wanted to go down. With a plan in my head I began storyboarding and picking out different places I wanted to use to film the advert.

After filming and when I became to editing, this is where my problems began, my filming had vanished and I had nothing. Although I was frustrated I knew it was my own fault, I hadn’t left enough time before the hand in to make sure everything was okay. With that in mind, I think I did never well on this module, because of my execution. But where I fell was on my time management.

Evaluating Jif

Basically with this brief I decided to look at it from a heritage view. Everyone knows what jif lemon is and everyone uses it for different things. At first I looked at all the ways that jif lemon can be used, and there is a lot of ways. After picking a selection of these, I then decided to have my campaign set in the 1950’s, when jif lemon was created.

Through creating a typical 1950’s family, I was able to place certain aspects of Jif uses with each member and so I decided to use the family in a Brady Bunch style television commercial. Aswell as press and TV ads, I created some idents that would feature Kim & Aggy using Jif for certain cleaning purposes.

Although we were asked to Mac up our work, due to timing issues I was only able to draw my ideas up. I felt my ideas were strong and would work for a heritage campaign. Although some of the feedback wasn’t what I wanted to hear, I took it on board and will remember it for the next brief.

Gocompare.com, Gio Compario - Caruso

possibly the most irritating advert I have ever seen. What's even more irritating is the fact that it's working and people are remembering the site just because of this stupid song! It's good that it works but sooner or later people are going to really start to hate it and then where do go compare go from there?

Possibly the brief I was most dreading is Jif Lemon, and its only because last years second years were shocking! But, without dwelling on it too much I am rather excited to work on this alone and use my own ideas, just have to keep an eye on the time.

and second year begins

So second year begins, I am very much looking forward to this as I have decided to work alone this year and am definitely going to crack on with my work. Also, with the course under a new leader I am looking forward to seeing what he brings to the course. A few things will be changing this year including my time management skills, last year I was VERY laid back with my work, cannot let this happen this year. Time to pull my finger out and prepare myself for industry J

Yeo Valley Advert - Official Video

I Love this advert! It's funny and creative and shows milk farmers in a different way! the fact they realised that 'Yeo' and 'Yo' are the same and turned it into a rap is hilarious and it works! it's not irritating and its grabs the attention of the public
